Athens - Skopje: An Uneasy Symbiosis (1995-2202)

The Cover

The Great Prespa Lake: A landmark of wars and conflicting claims between Greeks and Slavs during the Middle Ages, but also during the 19th and 20th centuries. A water border at the Greece - FYROM - Albania juncture which, for half a century (1945–1995), had remained an offlimits zone to border crossings.

The photograph on the cover is an allegoric rendering of the new climate of peaceful coexistence that has been effected in the greater triethnic border region following the signing of the Athens-Skopje 1995 Interim Agreement; even though the snow does not seem to have melted entirely.
