Diverse art forms expressing Macedonian culture evolved very early on. Despite the lack of durable materials examples of architecture have survived, as well as impressive painted and mosaic compositions in houses and tombs, and funerary and votive sculptures.

The abundantly metalliferous Macedonian earth provided suitable materials for coinage and the creation of masterpieces of metalwork. Finally, the numerous vessels and figurines discovered recently attest the evolution of ceramics in Macedonia from the earliest years.
